Van Tran University of Alberta Memorial Scholarship
Dear Friends and Family,
The campaign to establish the Van Tran University of Alberta Memorial Scholarship was launched in 2020 with the hopes of the scholarship being awarded to students starting in spring 2022.
This scholarship is considered an endowment scholarship. How this is different from a regular scholarship in that the investment income earned from the endowment fund is used to fund the scholarship for years to come. This will allow Van Tran Memorial Scholarship to exist until perpetuity. We aim to raise $50 000 over the next five years – the minimum amount of fund required by the University of Alberta to establish an endowment scholarship.
There are two main reasons why we selected University of Alberta to distribute Van Tran Memorial Scholarship.
- Van loved her profession as a dental hygienist and University of Alberta was where she obtained her degree in Dental Hygiene and Bachelor of Business. Many of Van’s classmates, as well as many of us who met Van through the Vietnamese Student Association shared countless memories of studying together, laughing, crying and growing up together.
- Moreover, by entering Van’s name into the vault of the University of Alberta, her memory also stands for the efforts of the generations of Vietnamese-Canadians who have, are, and will grace the hallways of our beloved University who in turn contribute to the fabric of our rich Canadian society. Establishing a scholarship in Van’s name is also our way to collectively contribute back to the community while honoring our dear friend.
We appreciate your help in this effort. Donations can be made directly to the University of Alberta via the attached form.
We are grateful for your kindness and generosity.
