2020 Ben Tre Water Project
May 2020 – A drought is currently affecting communities in the Ben Tre area. Salt water from the sea is intruding on their rivers and water system. Regular filtration system can’t properly remove salt for safe drinking water. People especially in the impoverished communities are most vulnerable because filtered water is not readily available for drinking, and the children are getting rashes from washing with salt water. With the COVID pandemic, it is harder and more expensive to get drinkable/usable water to the affected area. A request was submitted to CVBF to help buy water containers to fill with filtered water and have them delivered from Dong Thap to Ben Tre community.
Our CVBF representatives and volunteers were able to deliver two trips of water to My Nhon and one trip to Giong Trom, Ben Tre. The people are in dire need of safe drinking water and were so happy and appreciative for the filtered water. Thank you, dear friends, for making this happen.
Sadly though, the droughts continue as the salt water moves further into another region, and so we will try to continue helping these communities.
