2018 CASA Foundation

June 2018 – Our hearts were all broken last year when a young friend and artist, Viet, took his own life. Unbeknownst to his family and friends, he had had a long battle with depression and anxiety and succumbed in the end as a result of some very unfortunate circumstances. In memory of their dear son and brother, his family donated some of his beautiful artwork to our foundation to help raise funds to help the children of Vietnam. This year, to honour Viet and the beautiful person he was, our foundation was determined to make our contribution to helping the local children and youths like Viet who are struggling with mental illness. Last week, Dr. Nhung (who also recently lost a dear patient — an amazing young man named Thomas — to mental illness) was joined by Thuy, Viet’s sister, to make the special presentation to the Executive Director of CASA Foundation, Nadine Samycia. Thuy also presented two of Viet’s Anime art pieces to CASA. Nadine gave us a tour of their facility and we were very impressed. We hope that our contribution (5% of the funds raised at our annual fundraiser) will help the staff at CASA continue with the important work they do to improve the health and well-being of our children and youths in the community
